Long Branch Opry - Mike Snider

We skipped the May show and there was no June show, but tonight we were back at the Long Branch Opry. Overall it was a disappointing evening and the poorest event we've attended there. Everything started on time with a set by the Stage Hands, a small group headed by Opry owner Charlie Short. Their performance was short, weak, and dominated by a comedy skit.

Then it was on to a short break where Charlie's grand daughter read a bunch of ads while the next act set up. The main act was Mike Snider, a nationally known comedy/music act. Mike has performed there before and did a nice job, but tonight was not up to past standards. He did a single set for a bit over an hour and it mainly consisted of jokes with very little music. His best part was the commercial for selling his CD's.

When Mike ended he just said good night and most folks didn't know what to think. In the past there was always an intermission followed by another set by both acts. Nothing had been mentioned about a different schedule and Charlie was nowhere to be seen. It was a sell-out crowd, but many of the new attendees probably will not return and he alienated some long-time supporters.
